Prep Roundup: Camas girls clinch 4A GSHL crown

Addison Harris had 20 points and 12 rebounds as the Papermakers wrapped up the 4A Greater St. Helens League title with a 62-51 home win over Skyview on Wednesday.

Camas led 52-49 with 2:00 to play. Kendall Mairs hit a 3-pointer and the Papermakers iced the game at the free-throw line.

Skylar Groesbeck led Skyview with 17 points.

Girls basketball

UNION 55, BATTLE GROUND 38 — Olivia Euverman scored 15 points to lead the Titans to a 4A GSHL road win.

Euverman scored 10 points in the first half as Union built a 31-15 lead.

Candice Adams led Battle Ground with 14 points.

LA CENTER 63, CASTLE ROCK 30 — Kylee Stephens scored 27 points and Gianna D’Emilio had 24 points and 14 rebounds as the Wildcats rolled to their eighth consecutive victory.

Stephens scored 11 points in the first and second quarters, while D’Emilio had 13 of her points in the second half. Malyah Cooley had eight steals.

Brooke Wirkkala led the Castle Rock scoring with 10 points.

KING’S WAY CHRISTIAN 44, SETON CATHOLIC 41 — Hannah Erwin scored 12 points and hit a big 3-pointer late in a Trico League road win.

Erwin’s 3-pointer put the Knights ahead 44-39 with 20 seconds left. Laurel Quinn added 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Cami Price had 11 points and 25 rebounds for Seton Catholic, which offered a tougher challenge than a 75-38 loss to King’s Way on Jan. 24.

Boys basketball

UNION 84, BATTLE GROUND 45 — Bryson Metz scored 21 points, Yanni Fassillis had a double-double and the Titans scored 36 points in the first quarter of a 4A GSHL home win.

Fassillis finished with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Evan Eschels added 15 points and Porter Hill scored 14 points for the Titans.

Trey Spencer led Battle Ground with 17 points.

KELSO 56, MOUNTAIN VIEW 44 — Kelso’s Payton Stewart led all scorers with 25 points and the Hilanders clinched at least a tie for the 3A Greater St. Helens League title with the win at Mountain View.

Kelso leads Mountain View by two games with two to play including the regular-season finale against each other at Kelso next week.

Stewart scored 18 of his 25 points in the second half when Kelso pulled away.

Mahkakri Bolds and Michael Tauscher each scored 11 points for Mountain View.

EVERGREEN 58, PRAIRIE 54 — Carmelo Stewart hit the big 3-pointer from the corner to put the Plainsmen ahead by four with about 90 seconds play and Evergreen knocked Prairie out of playoff contention with the road victory.

Stewart scored a team-high 12 points for Evergreen, and Juelz Mendoza had 11.

Evergreen led 46-39 after three quarters, but Prairie battled back to get within three points with 3 minutes to play.

Tyson Davis and Brendan Carter each scored 13 points for Prairie, and Baily Kousonsavath had 11.

CASTLE ROCK 64, COLUMBIA-WHITE SALMON 48 — Trystin Marin scored 16 points, Landon Gardner added 13 points and the Rockets clinched their first district playoff berth since 2016 with a Trico League road win.

Chance Naugle scored all nine of his points on three 3-pointers in the third quarter. That allowed Castle Rock to nearly match the Bruins’ 24 points in the quarter.

Carson Lanz led the Bruins with 22 points.
