The Port of Vancouver announced Wednesday this year’s beneficiaries of its Community Fund:

  • Clark College Foundation will receive $1,000 for its International Day activities, which celebrate international, cultural and educational exchange. The event is meant to promote understanding and inclusivity, which the port says supports its goals of connecting with the world and recruiting and retaining a talented and diverse workforce.
  • Vancouver Farmers Market will get $2,500 for a vendor training program, which supports small-business owners who experience barriers in their business. The program will provide training on how to become a vendor, different ways to get loans and free booth space.
  • Columbia Play Project will receive $1,500 to support the project’s at-home play kits that emphasize STREAM — science, technology, reading, engineering, art and math — education.

The Community Fund launched in January 2020. This year, the port received requests totaling $10,500 and chose those that best met the port’s strategic plan goals and overall mission. The port will solicit applications for the 2023 round of funding later this year.
