We, the good old USA, haven’t been in a war for about a month: so we have Ukraine! The daily media mantras never include a realistic assessment of what such a war would need. Nor why the USA is supposed to be involved in it. For some reason the global picture always seems to include the USA as somebody who needs to step in. Why? And how many troops would we send there? Russia has supposedly 100,000 troops positioned around Ukraine, which according to the media are about to jump off and attack it. Good luck with that! Ukraine shows about 250,000 troops with the second-largest military in Europe.
The idea left over from World War II 75 years ago that we, the USA, have to guarantee security of those countries we defeated then is no longer needed. Those countries, such as Germany, should easily be able to stand up for themselves and Ukraine. It might even make up a bit also for the devastation Germany visited on Ukraine during World War II. The same goes for Japan. The USA does not need to keep large forces in these countries when they can do it themselves.
