Letter: Shoppers, please mask up

By Michael E. McGinley, Vancouver
Published: January 3, 2022, 6:00am

I went to two big-box stores in east Vancouver on Dec. 26 and found two quite different levels of mask-wearing by customers. All employees of both stores were fully masked.

The membership store presented at least six customers without masks and I left before completing my shopping, and when I asked them to please mask up, none did so. The “always low prices” store had much higher mask compliance; only one young parent was maskless. Thank you, shoppers.

I feel threatened and insulted by the unmasked customers. I am working as hard as I can to protect those around me with my mask and my vaccination and I rather resent that the “anti-mask” people choose to place my health in danger for whatever reason they imagine.

This will have an effect on my shopping choice in the future.
