A plurality of American voters did everything to get out the vote in a pandemic and evict a corrupt demagogue from office.
Trump was already creating a drumbeat of disinformation that the election was rigged against him. He even interfered with the U.S. Postal Service by appointing one of his yes-men so that we didn’t know if mail-in ballots would arrive on time to be counted. Democrats succeeded in winning the presidency and the narrowest majorities in Congress.
We, the voters, did our part to save our democracy when two impeachments failed on party lines. Republican state legislatures have passed laws to corrupt the vote count. It is now in the hands of the U.S. Senate to stop the actual steal. That this critical voting rights legislation still hangs in the balance, when it is the core of the meaning of the last presidential election, is very disheartening. There will be no more chances.
I am writing about saving democracy, so that voters of any party choose their politicians, not the other way around. Republican politicians in Congress have shown that they won’t choose country over party. Democrats must get it done.
