Law enforcement agencies in Southwest Washington will conduct additional DUI patrols for Championship Sunday on Jan. 30 and Super Bowl LVI on Feb. 13.

Participating agencies include the Battle Ground and Vancouver police departments, Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Washington State Patrol and Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency.

More than 50 percent of all fatal crashes are caused by driving under the influence, according to Target Zero, the state’s initiative to end traffic fatalities and serious injuries by 2030. Preliminary data from the Washington Traffic Safety Commission shows that 2021 had the highest number of polydrug drivers in fatal and serious injury crashes in state history.

Anyone who sees a suspected impaired driver should call 911. For substance abuse help, call 1-800-662-HELP (4357).
