MEADOW HOMES — 10 seniors from four Vancouver high schools successfully completed forklift certification training on May 21, at Fort Vancouver High School. The training, led by Rhett Carpenter, began at 7:30 a.m. with classroom instruction and simulator exercises. Certification testing using a forklift took place at approximately 9:30 a.m.

The training was made possible thanks to the purchase of forklift simulators at four Vancouver Public Schools high schools. The district’s Career and Technical Education department purchased the simulators. This was the first year that the training and certification has been offered.

Students who successfully complete the course will earn forklift operation certification, opening doors to the workforce right out of high school.
