Raptors Road Trip: Yakima Valley 7, Ridgefield 1

The Raptors had eight hits Saturday night but left nine runners on base and had just two hits over the final three innings of a 7-1 loss to the Yakima Valley Pippins at Yakima County Stadium.

KEY MOMENTS: The Raptors broke through with the game’s first run in the top of the sixth inning when Isaac Lovings drove home Mikey Kane, who had led off the inning with a single. … The Pippins came right back in the bottom of the sixth with six runs on five hits to essentially put the game away.

KEY PLAYERS: Riley McCarthy (Mountain View HS/Univ. of Portland) was 2 for 4 with his fifth double of the season and also stole his third base of the season. He was the only Raptors player with multiple hits. … Sawyer Parkin (Columbia River HS/Univ. of Washington) got his first start for the Raptors and went four shut-out/hitless innings with a walk and four strikeouts. It was his fourth appearance this season. … Pippins catcher Jake Borst (CS San Bernardino) was 2 for 4 with a double and three RBI.

UP NEXT: Ridgefield (17-11 overall) at Yakima Valley (11-21), 6:05 p.m. Sunday in the rubber game of the three-game series.
