Boris Johnson, the prime minister of Great Britain, has resigned. His resignation follows a rebellion by Conservative party ministers and members who were no longer willing to put up with lies and actions that flaunted rules and demonstrated disregard for decent conduct. In the United States, the leader of the “conservative” party is a serial liar who encourages outrageous conduct by his followers and continues to assert, on the basis of no evidence, that an election was stolen from him. This leader’s elected representatives and party members support and fawn over him.
Why the difference? Apparently conservative politicians in Great Britain have integrity and courage, as well as a strong moral compass; qualities that their Republican counterparts in the United States seem to lack.
