Residents are invited to a meeting July 19 about Clark County Fire District 5’s proposed levy lid lift, which will be on the Aug. 2 primary election ballot.

The virtual meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m., and people can access the link at ccfd5.org or on Fire District 5’s Facebook page and Instagram, @ccfdfive.

Fire Commissioner Ron Gibson, Fire Chief Brennan Blue and District Administrator Jennifer Bethke will present at the meeting, followed by an opportunity for residents to ask questions about the fire levy lid lift.

The ballot measure, which will be Proposition 1, will ask voters to approve a 24 cents per $1,000 of assessed value increase in the department’s levy. The agency would use the funding to hire three additional firefighters, including a paramedic, at Station 11 serving the Orchards-Sifton area, which will help reduce emergency response times districtwide. The department also hopes to do seismic upgrades at its stations.
