Letter: Biden is a disappointment

Joe Biden is turning out to be an enormous, even dangerous, disappointment.

From all evidence, he lives in a world that no longer exists. He assumes that collegial relations and genuine debate exist in the halls of Congress. They don’t. He thinks the Supreme Court is a noble institution above politics. It never was. He assumes that selling out to the profit-at-all-costs philosophy of Wall Street serves the interests of the American people. It never has. He is a neocon and surrounds himself with neocons who believe America can rule the world if we just build (and sell) enough weapons, manufacture “existential” threats everywhere we turn, convince or coerce enough other countries to go along with us, and then build military bases (over 800) in those countries.

He believes that “our” strong men — like MBS (Saudi Arabia), Sisi (Egypt), whoever (Israel), Erdogan (Turkey), and so many dictators before them — are OK, but Putin pulling the same rotten stunts is the second coming of Hitler. He thinks the UN is our little pony, but if it dares buck, it is an untamed beast.

He thinks the American voters are too smart to choose another Trump. They are not. And that may be the biggest disappointment.
