A 54-year-old Ridgefield man was killed in a single-car crash early Wednesday east of Cougar.

The Washington State Patrol reported the crash occurred shortly before 3 a.m. on Highway 503 near the Beaver Bay Campground.

The motorist, identified as Lee W. Joner, was driving north when his Chevrolet Silverado pickup crossed the center line, ran off the road and struck a fence, a State Patrol crash memo said.

Joner, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.
