Raptors can't claw back from early 5-0 hole

Bend jumped ahead 5-0 in the second inning then held Ridgefield in check Thursday as the Raptors dropped two of three in Central Oregon.

KEY MOMENTS: Beau Sylvester and Wilson Weber hit back-to-back home runs to put Bend ahead 2-0 in the first innings. … Jacob Sharp doubled with one on in the ninth to bring the tying run to the plate, but the Raptors could only score one in the ninth.

KEY PLAYERS: A day after a five-RBI game, Riley McCarthy stayed hot with an RBI single in the fourth inning to pull the Raptors within 5-2. He went 2-3, raising his average to .382. … Ryan Obrecht pitched three scoreless innings in relief, striking out three. … Safea Mauai went 2 for 4, extending his hitting streak to 13 games. … Travis Welker went 2 for 3, raising his batting average to .322.

NEXT GAME: Ridgefield (23-15) at Cowlitz (16-22), 6:35 p.m. Friday.
