Everyone talks about homelessness. What private citizen has actually done something to alleviate homelessness? Hector Hinojosa, candidate for Clark County Council District 1. He is the founder of Community Roots Collaborative, which last year, amid a pandemic, opened a 21-unit tiny homes development north of Fruit Valley. These 300-square-foot, one-bedroom units rent for $650 a month. They are permanent, not transitional, residences. Hector is an unassuming man, unaccustomed to “tooting his own horn.” The collaborative has more developments in the works.
I vote for actions over talk. I vote action over hand-wringing. I vote Hinojosa.
