Raptors Road Trip: Parkin helps lead Ridgefield to 8-4 win at Springfield

Columbia River High grad and Washington Huskies pitcher Sawyer Parkin threw seven solid innings and the Ridgefield Raptors beat the Springfield Drifters 8-4 on Friday night in their first trip to Drifter Stadium in Springfield, Ore.

KEY MOMENTS: With two outs in the sixth inning and trailing 3-2, Henry Muench doubled home Doyle Kane, and then scored on Tyler Howard’s single to give the Raptors the lead they would not give back. … Jacob Sharp hit an RBI double to score Travis Walker, and Will Chambers hit a two-run home run in a three-run ninth inning for some insurance.

KEY PLAYERS: Parkin (1-1, 3.90 ERA) picked up his first win in seven games with Ridgefield. He allowed one earned run on five hits with four strikeouts in his seven innings. … Jake Tsukada, Muench and Howard each had three hits for the Raptors.

NEXT GAME: Ridgefield (27-18 overall, 11-8 2nd half) at Springfield (16-30, 6-13), 6:35 p.m. Saturday.
