Raptors cut down potential tying run at plate in ninth inning

The Raptors earned a three-game series sweep in Springfield on Sunday in dramatic fashion.

Left fielder Alex Sepulveda and shortstop Mikey Kane teamed up to throw out the potential tying run for the second out in the bottom of the ninth. Will Chambers then secured his first save of the season, stranding the tying run at second.

KEY MOMENTS: Raptors leadoff hitter Jake Tsukada singled home Sepulveda with two outs to give Ridgefield a 2-1 lead in the fourth. … Travis Welker’s sacrifice fly capped a three-run sixth inning to put Ridgefield ahead 5-1.

KEY PLAYERS: Raptors catcher Jacob Sharp went 2 for 5, raising his batting average to .355. … Riley McCarthy went 1 for 3 and drew a bases-loaded walk in the first inning.

NEXT GAME: Ridgefield (28-18) at  Walla Walla (20-27), 6:35 p.m. today.
