Letter: Elected officials must take action

By Megan Schlegel, Ridgefield

I urge my elected officials to prioritize gun safety legislation. The mass shooting that happened at Robb Elementary School, where 19 children and two teachers were murdered, is another instance of the tragic gun violence we witness all too often in America.

As elected officials, it is their job to take bold action to stop these senseless tragedies from happening. We cannot wait. I’m asking that Gov. Inslee, Rep. Vick and Sen. Rivers support commonsense gun safety reform including, but not limited to, universal background checks, closing all loopholes and an assault weapons ban. We should not have to live in fear of the gun lobby.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
