Letter: Action needed from Herrera Beutler

By Ellen Sward, Vancouver

Jaime Herrera Beutler’s continuing opposition to measures to stem gun violence, including a ban on assault weapons, is cowardly and unprincipled. There are about 400 million guns in this country, many of them appropriate only for combat. According to a recent government report, annual domestic gun production increased from 3.9 million in 2000 to 11.3 million in 2020. In 2021 alone, police recovered 19,344 homemade, untraceable ghost guns. What facts will move Herrera Beutler to action? And when?
