Let’s not kid ourselves that this was a mental health issue. The fact is that the shooter, nutcase or not, killed those kids not with a bayonet or an ax or even a baseball bat: he killed them with a gun. Guns are easy to transport, easy to use, and, alas, easy to obtain, and the Second Amendment notwithstanding, one has to ask why such military-style semi-automatic assault weapons are available to the public in the first place. I doubt that the amendment framers would have passed such a law had they known about such weapons.
