A Marvel antihero’s big-screen debut tops the DVD releases for the week of June 14.

“Morbius”: Jared Leto plays the titular character, first introduced in a ‘70s Spider-Man comic book storyline, a doctor who attempts to cure his rare blood disease but instead infects himself with a form of vampirism. Directed by Daniel Espinosa and also starring Matt Smith, Adria Arjona, Jared Harris and Tyrese Gibson.

Chicago Tribune critic Michael Phillips was not impressed with Leto’s first Marvel flick. “You know what I’d like to see? I’d like to see a movie where Jared Leto turns into a better actor,” Phillips writes in his review. “Meantime there’s ‘Morbius,’ where Leto plays not Batman but a man who turns into a bat man, vampire blood coursing through veins that manage to over- and under-act simultaneously.”
