Ridgefield Raptors top Cowlitz Black Bears 9-6 to even weekend series

Raptors' four-run eighth inning pulls them ahead

The Ridgefield Raptors scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning Saturday to pull away from the Cowlitz Black Bears and win 9-6 at the RORC. The West Coast League victory ties the three-game weekend series at 1-1.

KEY MOMENTS: Jake Tsukada (Univ. of Portland) singled with the bases loaded to bring in Trent Prokes (Modesto JC) with the tying runs, and then Austin Caviness (Cal Poly) drew a bases-loaded walk for the go-ahead run. Jacob Sharp’s sacrifice fly and Isaac Lovings’ single scored two insurance runs.

KEY PLAYERS: Sharp, the Raptors leftfielder from Fullerton College, was 3 for 4 with his third home run of the season. He also had a stolen base. … Cowlitz left fielder Calyn Halvorson (Utah Valley) was 3 for 5 with a double and home run and two RBI.

NEXT GAME: Cowlitz (8-6) at Ridgefield (7-6), 1:05 p.m. Sunday. It’s a “Kids In Free Sunday” at the ballpark as ages 12-under get in free with a paid adult ticket.
