Letter: Quiring O’Brien takes low road

The former chair of the Clark County Council, Eileen Quiring O’Brien, has submitted her scathing letter of resignation. I can only imagine the scene where she reads the letter to a close confidant and adviser and, once finished, excitedly asks what they think. I’m pretty sure the advice was to take the high road. Blame, finger-pointing, and self-promotion isn’t the best way to go out.

Thankfully, for entertainment purposes, that advice was ignored. She fired away. It was mean. It was spiteful. It was insane. It was viable proof that this job was too big for her. Her leaving has instantly improved the council, which can now get back to serving the entire county, not just the ones who agreed with her.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
