Letter: Vote to limit powers

It is such an avoidable tragedy. What is happening to the Ukrainian people could one day be us. Putin is so admired by people in our own country. Our own ex-president states that Putin is a genius.

The Russian people are not to blame, it’s the power-hungry dictators. I can’t believe we buy oil from Russia or the fact that our American companies are in Russia. We have let the political powers that be, elected by us, take over to the point that we don’t know what the hell is going on. The almighty dollar is in bed with them. With the cost of living so high, we can’t even take care of our own people.

Why have we let Russia become so powerful that they can murder innocent people and destroy a country? It could be us. We had a want-to-be dictator as our president. Let’s take away some of the powers that the president has; don’t let one man determine the fate of our country or anyone else’s. That’s what has happened in Russia. When someone asks me who I vote for, it’s not a certain political party, it’s someone who’s civilized, someone who wants a better life for all mankind, not someone who wants power at all costs.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
