SALEM, Ore. — A juvenile boy was shot and wounded at a downtown Salem, Oregon, shopping mall on Friday, police said.

At about 2:15 p.m. Friday, police responded to calls about a shooting near the Salem Center Mall, police said in a news release.

Responding officers found a victim at a business with a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital and was expected to survive, according to police.

Police searched the mall, escorted people out of the building and didn’t find other victims or a shooting suspect. Police said on Twitter around 4 p.m. that a notification to shelter in place had been lifted.

After the initial shooting incident, no additional shots were fired as was reported over social media, police said.

Streets in the area were reopening but police said people should expect a police presence in the area of the mall as the investigation continues.
