Fishing report for lower Columbia River mainstem and tributaries: March 28

The Lower Columbia River mainstem from Buoy 10 upstream to Bonneville Dam on Sunday, March 27 tallied 609 salmonid boats and 94 Washington bank rods for this week’s count.

Fishery reports

MAINSTEM COLUMBIA RIVER

SALMON/STEELHEAD

Sec 1 (Bonneville) — 267 bank anglers kept 22 Chinook, one steelhead and released seven Chinook; three boats/six rods had no catch.

Sec 2 (Camas/Washougal) — Seven boats/11 rods had no catch.

Sec 3 (Interstate 5 area) — 35 boats/76 rods kept six Chinook and released one Chinook.

Sec 4 (Vancouver) — 84 bank anglers kept four Chinook and released one Chinook; 103 boats/209 rods kept 20 Chinook and released three Chinook.

Sec 5 (Woodland) — 53 bank anglers kept one steelhead and released one steelhead; 23 boats/52 rods kept three Chinook and released one steelhead.

Sec 6 (Kalama) — 16 bank anglers had no catch; 70 boats/175 rods kept 10 Chinook and released one Chinook and one steelhead.

Sec 7 (Cowlitz) — 21 boats/67 rods kept nine Chinook and released one Chinook.

Sec 8 (Longview) — 153 bank anglers kept 16 steelhead and released one Chinook and seven steelhead; 161 boats/336 rods kept 22 Chinook.

Sec 9 (Cathlamet) — 32 bank anglers had no catch; 18 boats/39 rods kept two Chinook and released one Chinook.

Sec 10 (Cathlamet) — 110 boats/241 rods kept 37 Chinook, one jack and released three Chinook.

STURGEON

Sec 4 (Vancouver) — Two boats/four rods released one oversize sturgeon.

WALLEYE

Sec 2 (Camas/Washougal) — One boat/two rods had no catch.

The Dalles Pool — Five boats/17 rods kept 37 walleye and released two walleye.

COLUMBIA RIVER TRIBUTARIES

SALMON/STEELHEAD

Cowlitz River from Interstate 5 Bridge downstream — No report.

Cowlitz River above the I-5 Bridge — 39 bank rods kept 26 steelhead. 5 boats/16 rods kept 11 steelhead.

Kalama River — No report.

Lewis River — Two boats/three rods had no catch.

Drano Lake — One boat/two rods had no catch.

Updates

Klickitat River from the mouth to Fisher Hill Bridge — April 1 through May 27, salmon and hatchery steelhead daily limit is two, of which up to one may be an adult salmon. Release wild Chinook. Open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays only.

Beginning May 28 until further notice, salmon daily limit will be six, of which up to one may be an adult. Release wild Chinook.

Klickitat River from 400 feet upstream of No. 5 fishway to boundary markers below Klickitat Salmon Hatchery — Effective May 28 until further notice, salmon daily limit will be six, of which up to one may be an adult. Release wild Chinook.
