A 60-year-old Vancouver man was fatally stabbed the morning of May 4 outside of a metal fabrication plant east of Clackamas, Ore.

A probable cause affidavit states John William Barnett was stabbed in the neck at American Wood Dryers LLC at 15495 S.E. For Mor Court.

Clackamas County sheriff’s deputies responded just after 11 a.m. to a report of a disturbance at the business. Deputies and paramedics attempted to provide Barnett medical aid, but he died on scene.

The sheriff’s office said deputies found Cesar Farfan-Martinez, 27, a short distance away with serious injuries. Farfan-Martinez, no address listed, was taken to a hospital on a Life Flight helicopter, according to a news release. He was booked in the Clackamas County Jail on Friday, charged with second-degree murder. He is being held without bail.

Officials have not said how Farfan-Martinez was injured.

“Mr. Barnett’s family deeply appreciates all the hard work and heroic efforts of the people, co-workers, medical professionals, and everyone who endeavored to save John,” the news release states.
