Letter: Bring back senior dances

I am saddened by the fact that apparently Vancouver does not appreciate us seniors. The Luepke Center has opened up now for Meals on Wheels twice a week but they have not restarted the Sunday dances that the seniors enjoyed very much. The dances provided exercise for the seniors and, with the round tables, socialization for those who did not dance but just wanted to socialize or listen to the music.

Other senior centers have restarted their dance programs for seniors, such as Oregon City and Keizer. Even President Biden proclaimed May as Older Americans Month. I think that Vancouver should be ashamed of itself for discriminating against the seniors and by previously selecting bands that Parks and Recreation wanted rather than ones that seniors enjoyed. Let Vancouver declare May as Older Americans Month and let the senior dances begin again at the Luepke Center.
