Letter: Social media doesn’t live up to name

By George Gust, Ridgefield

Isn’t it time to relabel “social media” platforms as “antisocial media”?

What is “social” about fake news on Facebook?

What is “social” about anonymous bullying on Instagram leading to suicide?

What is “social” about duplicating injury-causing stupid stunts as seen on TikTok or Snapchat?

What is “social” about the sewer known as Twitter?

What is “social” about livestreaming mass murder on Twitch?

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
