Letter: Pro-gun, pro-life don’t mix

Pro-life advocates argue that life begins at conception and the rights of the mother cease to exist at the same time. I understand the desire to protect infants from sudden death, so why don’t we consider the rights of children rather than the rights of the gun holder?

Why is the child’s life important when it’s in the womb, but not important when it’s in the world?

AR-15s and other assault weapons are designed to kill and that is their sole purpose. One cannot be both pro-gun and pro-life. Time to choose which one you really are.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
