Letter: Vote to reject violence

“Intruder beat Pelosi’s husband with hammer in their home” (Associated Press, Oct. 28). The facts tell us he was after the speaker of the House. No surprise, this is what the far-right expects. This is their plan as much as it was the plan of the 9/11 terrorists to seed fear into the American heart. The thugs that do these acts are doing the dirty work of the Republican, far-right candidates in this country, those that support the Proud Boys and endorse the big lie.

What can we do if we want this violence to stop? Vote. And, as you get ready to vote, remember that you could be voting for violence instead of a political position. Nothing real will get done, the economy will not improve, if we are all running in fear and dealing with domestic terrorism.

If these “leaders” are elected, they will turn their heads in the face of violence and continue to endorse it, thinking that it is a legitimate way to get what they want. It will not work. Our job is to keep them out of office. Vote.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
