Letter: Hold Israel accountable

Russia invaded Ukraine back in March, triggering daily condemnation by the United States and most of Europe. Rightfully so.

Yet 74 years ago, the United Nations, with the full backing of many of those same nations, simply “gave away” half the territory of the Palestinian people, and when they fought back as the Ukrainians are now, they were condemned as “terrorists,” as “stateless people,” and even as “not a people.”

To this day the United States gives billions each year to maintain an apartheid state in Palestine. When will the hypocrisy end? When will hypocrites like Joe Biden, Antony Blinken, the Clintons, and the many members of Congress who are also citizens of Israel, finally realize that they only hurt the interests of freedom around the world by showing that their consciences can be bought for votes in the next election? When will they admit that saying “tut, tut, tut” after each human rights atrocity committed by Israel is no substitute for action; the sort of action they are all too eager to take in Ukraine?
