Letter: Women should take responsibility

By Don Hartley, Vancouver

Women should absolutely have the right to choose, but it should be the right to choose not to get pregnant in the first place. Except in rare cases, once a woman is pregnant, she gives up her choice whether to continue with the pregnancy. The false notion that a woman should have the right to choose what happens to her body when she becomes pregnant is only an excuse to cover up mistakes that could have easily been prevented.

I encourage the women of our society to see abortion for what it really is, and to take measures to prevent pregnancies if they do not want children. I ask women everywhere to rise up and take responsibility for their actions, and to not continue to grovel in the filthy practice of killing their children.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
