Perez widens lead in 3rd Congressional District election

Democrat Marie Gluesenkamp Perez widened her lead over Republican Joe Kent in the race to succeed Jaime Herrera Beutler representing Southwest Washington’s 3rd Congressional District.

In updated results Tuesday, Perez had 158,230 votes, or 50.25 percent, while Kent had 154,876 votes, or 49.19 percent.

As of Tuesday, Perez leads Kent by 3,354 votes, up from 3,268 votes in Monday’s tally, with an estimated 2,298 ballots left to be processed in six of the district’s seven counties — with 2,000  in Clark County and an undetermined number in Thurston County.

The next report is due out at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Clark County and 5 p.m. in Cowlitz and Thurston counties. All other counties won’t report again until Nov. 28 or Nov. 29, the date the election will be certified.
