Letter: Trump doesn’t care for country

It is not surprising that Donald Trump announced his candidacy for president of the United States in 2024. His ego, bordering on megalomania, means that he must be No. 1; his very existence depends upon his being at the top of the news and in the spotlight.

Neither is it surprising that among Trump’s staunchest supporters, one called him “a pathological liar,” “utterly amoral” and a “serial philanderer” (Sen. Ted Cruz, May 3, 2016) and “a race-baiting, xenophobic, religious bigot” (Sen. Lindsay Graham, 2015). That says something about the integrity of those two senators.

Among a host of negatives, Donald Trump is a serial liar; perhaps the only truth he ever told was that he “could shoot somebody in the middle of Fifth Avenue and get away with it.”

What is surprising to me is that millions of Americans would support Trump to again hold this country’s highest office. These folks are somehow deluded to think that he cares a rap about them or this country.
