Clark County sheriff’s deputies are investigating an apparent homicide after a woman was found dead Sunday at a rural property north of Camas.

Several people were viewing the property with a real estate agent when they found the woman’s body and called 911, according to a sheriff’s office news release.

Deputies responded to the area of Northeast Winters Road and 86th Street for reports of a suspicious death. When they arrived, they found the dead woman, who appeared to have suffered a gunshot wound, the news release states. Her identity was not released.

The sheriff’s office’s Major Crime Unit responded, interviewed nearby residents, collected evidence and continued to investigate, the agency said. Eventually, investigators identified a person of interest.

On Monday, detectives learned the person of interest was found dead in Oregon, apparently by suicide. They believe the person died by a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the news release states.

The Major Crime Unit is continuing to investigate, with the help of several agencies in Oregon.
