Letter: Republicans undermine democracy

Re: David Collier’s letter “Vote Republican, restore values” (Our Readers’ Views, Oct. 7): Perhaps he doesn’t realize that the candidates he supports represent the new Republican Party. Let’s look at their values: science denial, bigotry, might makes right, theocracy, racism, no gun control, homophobia, lying, denying others their opinion, destabilization of the government, sowing seeds of distrust of elected leadership, autocracy, blindly following their leadership, wealth disparity. These are not the values I wish for the democracy that I live in. Need examples, just spend some time reading The Columbian.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
