Letter: Support Steinke for utility

By Virginia Nugent, Vancouver
Published: October 22, 2022, 6:00am

I’m concerned about climate change and the impact it will have on our kids. Nancy Barnes wants to continue operating the public utility’s natural gas power plant, our state’s fourth-largest source of CO2 emissions, for another 20 years. Why? Because it’s paid for. That is like buying rotten meat and eating it because it is paid for. Where is her concern for our children? I’m voting for Don Steinke, who has a master’s degree in physics and has the knowledge to bring our public utility to a clean-energy future. He will keep the lights on, keep our rates low and protect our kids.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
