Inmates who were evacuated from Larch Corrections Center due to the Nakia Creek Fire have returned.

The inmates were safely returned on Saturday, according to the Department of Corrections’ website.

Although Corrections did not say how many inmates were evacuated, about 230 lived there in September. They were taken to other correctional facilities on Oct. 16, when evacuation zones were expanded to include the minimum-security facility southeast of Yacolt.

The fire was contained well short of the prison and did not damage any facilities.
