Mountain View senior Kevin Kim and Evergreen senior Trevin Livingston won’t have far to go for the 3A state tennis tournament in May.

The two qualified for state — to be held at Vancouver Tennis Center — at the 3A bi-district tournament with their top-six finishes on Thursday at the Boeing Employees Tennis Center in Kent.

Kim, the 3A district champion who qualified for state on Wednesday by reaching the semifinals, placed fourth overall at bi-district. He lost his semifinal match on Thursday to Rhett Nelson of North Thurston 6-4, 6-1.

Kim did not play the third-place match due to a back injury suffered in his semifinal.

Livingston, runner-up to Kim at district last week, had to win two loser-out matches Thursday to qualify for state.

He beat  Titus Kim of Thomas Jefferson 6-0, 6-3, and then survived a three-set match against Elliott Siddal of Peninsula 7-5, 4-6, 10-4 (super tiebreaker) that ensured him of a state berth.

Livingston lost in the fifth-place match to Brogan Rice of Bainbridge 6-4, 6-4.

Mountain View’s doubles team of Jeffery Tso and CJ Muraski were eliminated 6-0, 6-4 on Thursday. Maverick Hallett and Alex Alanis of Mountain View, who beat Tso and Muraski last week for the 3A district title, were eliminated on Wednesday with two losses.
