Hudson’s Bay entered the night with the potential to win and go on to the playoffs, but Columbia River had other plans in mind.

Adam Watts threw five touchdown passes and scored on a 64-yard run as the Rapids beat Hudson’s Bay 44-8 on Friday at Kiggins Bowl.

Both teams are eliminated from the playoffs.

The Rapids stopped Hudson’s Bay on its opening drive and marched down the field but settled for the 21-yard field goal by Gage Newman.

Kegan Davenport forced and recovered a fumble for River to regain possession and the Rapids’ offense would waste no time as Watts connected with Jacobi Fobbs for a 60-yard pass and score.

Bay would get the ball back but Davenport forced another fumble, recovering it and returning it to the 14-yard line. Watts made a shovel pass to Nathan Ianello for the touchdown and River’s lead grew to 16-0.

Davenport would force a third fumble as the first quarter ended giving Columbia River possession and another short field. This time Hudson’s Bay would force a fumble, momentarily slowing the Rapids offensive onslaught.

In the second quarter Watts would get it going again with three touchdown passes.

He first connected with a 52-yard pass to Reece Mickel, then 76 yards to Chris Parkin, and then set up a third score with an 18-yard run followed by an 19-yard TD pass to Thomas Blau.

Watts would score once more on a 64-yard run to start the second half, making the score 44-0.

Hudson’s Bay got its touchdown in the fourth quarter, methodically driving the ball down the field with all running plays. Aqeel Bauman’s gritty run game would finally pay off as he found the end zone and converted the two-point conversion run.
