Vancouver water features set to wind down for season

Community water features are dripping to a halt as the summer season comes to an end.

Hours are being reduced for the Columbia River installation at Vancouver Waterfront Park, 695 Waterfront Way, and the fountain at Esther Short Park, West Eighth Street and Columbia Street. Each location will run daily through Monday, then only on the weekends from Sept. 10-11 and Sept. 17-18 before completely stopping Sept. 19.

People will be able to splash around again, though, as the water features will turn on in spring 2023.

Rainfall and debris from trees that fall during cooler seasons can damage the water features’ mechanics. By conserving these resources, the longevity of the water features can be strengthened, and their use can be extended.
