A Vancouver man is facing a DUI charge following a three-vehicle crash that injured a Kirkland man Monday night on northbound Interstate 5 in Cowlitz County.

The crash occurred at about 11:15 p.m. near Milepost 56, south of Toledo.

Kevin A. Kansanback, 37, was driving a 2005 Acura TL in the left lane when his car rear-ended a 2014 Audi A6 at high speed. The collision caused the Audi to collide with a tractor-trailer in the right lane before striking the left-side barrier and coming to rest in the right lane, according to a Washington State Patrol crash memo.

The driver of the Audi, identified as Vasile Oros, 30, was injured and taken to PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center. His passengers, identified as Livius-Simon Oros, 27, and Cristian Vasile, 29, both of Romania, were uninjured, the crash memo states.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, identified as Michael J. O’Brien, 44, of Hillsboro, Ore., was also uninjured, troopers said.

Troopers cited speed as the cause. Kansanback was arrested on suspicion of DUI and booked into the Cowlitz County Jail.
