Letter: Speak up against Kent candidacy

By Dan Heynen, Vancouver

I was happy to see former Clark County Republican chair Ann Donnelly’s Opinion piece pointing out the risks of electing “Constitutional sheriff” Rey Reynolds in Clark County (“ ‘Constitutional sheriff’ distracts from duties,” The Columbian, Sept. 4).

Perhaps she could write a similar piece on congressional candidate Joe Kent, an avid Trumper, election denier, and an associate of far-right extremists like Joey Gibson (Patriot Prayer), Graham Jorgensen (Proud Boys), Nick Fuentes (Groyper Army), Marjorie Taylor Greene, and his professed role model, suspected sex trafficker, serial liar and conspiracy theory spreader Matt Gaetz. Do we really want a representative who wants to defund the FBI and Department of Justice?

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
