Letter: Governors deserve prison

By Norman G. Banks, Vancouver

Smuggling or transporting illegal immigrants not for profit is a serious federal crime punishable by five years in prison, and if for profit, the penalty is 10 years. Therefore, Govs. Ducey of Arizona, Abbot of Texas, and DeSantis of Florida, each guilty of transporting migrants to other states without permit and in secret (smuggling), should be so charged and imprisoned. Since each is doing it to promote their own political careers (profit) and save money (also profit), and have publicly acknowledged their crimes, they should be guests of the government for 10 years.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
