Clark County sheriff’s deputies are seeking information about a man they say crashed a stolen car March 14 in the Five Corners area and ran from the scene with his 9-year-old child.

At about 3:40 p.m., a stolen black Lexus crashed into a mailbox and a tree at Northeast Covington Road and 73rd Street, according to a sheriff’s office news release. Just before the crash, callers reported to 911 that the vehicle was driving recklessly.

After the Lexus came to a stop, witnesses reported they saw a man and a young child run from the car, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies arrived and found the vehicle unoccupied, according to the news release. After they confirmed that the car was stolen, deputies found inside a small amount of what they suspected to be methamphetamine, about half a pound of suspected marijuana, and what appeared to be stolen checks and documents belonging to about 60 different people.

Investigators believe that the driver was Todd Allen Mouton, 31, and that the passenger was his 9-year-old child.

Deputy Christopher Freudenberg found the child and the child’s guardian later that day. The child suffered minor scratches, according to the sheriff’s office.

Investigators say they have probable cause to arrest Mouton on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle, reckless endangerment of a child, reckless driving, and hit and run, the news release states.

Anyone with information about the incident or Mouton’s whereabouts is asked to contact Deputy Freudenberg at christopher.freudenberg@clark.wa.gov and reference sheriff’s office case number 23002066.
