Letter: What is wrong with our country?

Emotionally I’m exhausted. Continued mass school shootings, another today (Monday)!

What is wrong with people? What is wrong with our country? What is wrong with our leaders that we can’t get a grip? Sadness prevails and the loss is overwhelming for families and fellow students. We are starting to prepare and live in a daily war zone. The Tennessee politicians will only offer up thoughts and prayers. In Mississippi, communities and towns have been leveled, leaving death and thousands homeless with nothing.

We are one of the most powerful and wealthiest countries in the world, yet struggle to find common ground. Following these sad stories is ex-President Trump threatening death and destruction if indicted. What is wrong with this picture? Am I the only one who’s had enough?

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
