Letter: Humans, animals not much different

It is human nature to want more; to exceed in life, be it career, relationships or money.

There are people who do this at the expense of others by capturing wildlife, exhibiting them, forcing them to perform, all for money. The orca whales lived in a small environment with little food. Elephants are made to stand on concrete floors causing sores on their feet so they can “entertain” people at zoos. Pregnant mares are confined to tiny stalls so small they cannot turn around or lie down. This is for urine collection: Premarin production. The devices cause painful sores on their legs.

We must remember, a human being is, from a purely biological perspective, an animal and therefore not so very different from other species.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
