I took a spring salmon fishing charter and spent time on the Columbia River near Woodland. I was stunned to observe groups of two to three sea lions about every 25 feet.
If the overgrowing population of sea lions is not addressed the salmon population will be wiped out. According to the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, sea lions currently consume up to 44 percent of the spring chinook. It is time to take action by closing down the buffet.
