Letter: Think before starting construction

I am glad to see state Highway 14 being widened. I’m sure it will help a great deal now and even more once the Interstate 5 Bridge replacement project starts.

My concern is that Interstate 205, between the Columbia River and the junction with I-5 to the north, is already becoming a slow, congested mess daily.

Imagine how bad traffic will be when the majority of vehicles use this stretch of freeway to avoid I-5 construction.

I-205 really needs to be widened to a very minimum of three travel lanes, in both directions, before the I-5 Bridge work begins. This should have been planned for years ago.

I hope that the powers to be will at least preserve a route for the future I-305(?) bridge. Seems to me that very little planning comes before development.

Take a look at the future mess near Gaiser Middle School. Imagine how difficult it will be getting in and out of the new, big housing projects within blocks of the school.
