Members of the IAFF Motorcycle Group will collect a Ribbon of Honor for former Clark County Fire District 6 firefighter Joe Killian this morning.

The motorcycle group will arrive at 11 a.m. for a short ceremony at Station 63, 1303 N.E. 136th St., Vancouver, according to an agency news release.

That ribbon, along with Ribbons of Honor for six other Washington firefighters, will be taken to the Aug. 13 Washington State Fallen Firefighters Memorial Service in North Bend.

Following 26 years of service at District 6, Killian died from cancer in 2022 — five years after he retired.

“We never forget the sacrifice that firefighters and their families make to serve the community,” Fire District 6 Chief Kristan Maurer said in the news release. “It is like a debt that can never be repaid.”
